REVIEW: Big Brother 2013
I made some snap judgements earlier in the year and I thought it was time, just before the finale, to revisit some of the characters that made this year’s Big Brother, one of the best.
WHO SHOULD WIN?
Jade is still too vanilla. I don’t know why she’s still there.
Tahan was hilarious when she was bitching, but beyond those moments, she didn’t offer much else.
Tim bitched, he strategised, he annoyed everyone at some point, but most of all he was memorable and entertaining. I hope he takes the title.
Although his recent breakdown after Boog ruined his clothes, followed by his rant about how unique he is could cost him those final votes, because that was his lowest point, and so close to the end!
MOST MEMORABLE MOMENT
Arguably, I would have to say the Drully kiss during the ‘Freeze’ task. Although there is much vitriol and hate for Tully on social media, she is still one of the most memorable characters of all the years Big Brother has been on television. I think Drew described the moment perfectly by calling it ‘Hollywood‘.
MOST VALUED PLAYERS – TOP 5
MOST FORGETTABLE – TOP 5
4. Katie & Lucy
5. Nathan – Not even sacrificing himself gave him much depth.
I think this season figured out what worked last season and capitalised on those elements. The introduction of Late Night Feast was an excellent addition as it gave us a further insight into the housemates without feeling like it was a gratuitous look at the housemates private moments.
Big Brother will always look like a guilty pleasure from a distance but it’s definitely an entertaining and intriguing social experiment. Although it always features the same run of the mill white people every season, the fact that most of the contestants have wised up to the fact Big Brother is also a GAME, has made for much more interesting dynamics over the past 100 days.
