VHS Party @ Lower Town Hall
SYDNEY FILM FESTIVAL is here, and over the weekend they’re putting together two stellar parties to get all you film buffs out of the darkness of a screening room and into the social awkwardness of disco-tech. Party two: VHS Party.
Josh Wheatley takes a break from his PhD on trash cinema and joins puppet film critic Harvey Feltztein to host a screening party dedicated to the almost extinct VHS.
At the VHS Party, the cultural impact of the VHS tape will be celebrated with clips from cult and trash cinema, including titles that never survived the transition to DVD and will disappear with the format.
It is BYO VHS tapes, with attendees encouraged to share their favourite scenes with the audience to score free drink vouchers and free pizza!
The VHS is dead. Long live the VHS!
