LISTEN UP! Archers ‘What Birds Think’ EP + Tour Dates

archers ep review

Adelaide Big Day Out audiences will get the chance to see them in the flesh on the 25th, but for the rest of us we will have to rely (for now at least) on the What Birds Think EP to whet our appetite for the sun soaked harmonies of Australian band ARCHERS.

archer what birds thing epDeviating between slow-burn nostalgic tracks and momentum building epics, Archer’s What Birds Think EP grounds itself in the smooth stylings of the drums and guitar. This is a sound that appears as though it was made specifically as a soundtrack for lazing on the beach lapping up the summer sun. When listening one would not be mistaken to think instantly of the sounds of New Navy or Northeast Party House. This is most definitely easy listening, yet undeniably not empty music.

Highlights from the EP include ‘Nero’, and ‘Old Parades’. An aspect that continues to come through strongly throughout the tracks is Brian Bolado commanding vocal performance, however in ‘Nero’ he appears delegated to the back seat, only popping in for the choruses, so that the rest of the band can shine, which they most definitely do. ‘Old Parades’ on the other hand seems to play quite purposefully with tempo, mimicking that early grunge sensibility of slow fast, verse to chorus structure.

For those not able to trek to Adelaide’s Big Day Out this weekend, fear not because the band are heading out on a tour to promote the launch their second EP (out February 2nd) so we can all jumpo and dance our way through their tunes, check out the dates below.
