WEEKEND PLAYLIST: 17/08/2012

With tickets for the PEATS RIDGE SUSTAINABLE ARTS & MUSIC FESTIVAL going on sale Monday morning, we figured now would be the best time for everyone to get familiar with some of the must see acts.

Well more specifically, this is my list of must see acts.

A three day festival beginning 29th of December till the 1st of January, Peats Ridge Fest is a little more relaxed atmosphere than the dance heavy Field Day for example, and the lineup definitely reflects that.

One things that the festival has that excites me is a handful of Aussie hip-hop acts. It has really felt like, for the last few years, local hip-hop in this country, as a scene, has really been pushing toward the mainstream. It has never really been a genre of much interest to me, but the more I hear the more it chews through my ears. It seems as though there is a unique hip-hop flavour in this country, and for that, I feel it must be worth a few extra listens.

Sharon Jones & The Dap-Kings ‘New Shoes’

Tuka ‘Just To Feel Wanted’

Northeast Party House ‘Pascal Cavalier’

The Black Seeds ‘Almost Home’

Kaki King ‘Falling Day’

The Herd ‘The Sum Of It All’

Electric Wire Hustle ‘Experience’

Blood Red Shoes ‘Cold’

Daily Meds ‘Insane’
