BIENNALE OF SYNDEY ‘All Our Relations’

Prepare yourselves Sydney-siders, because in a week the city as you know it will be over run by art as artists, curators and educators begin their three-month-long run of the 18th Biennale of Sydney.

The Biennale of Sydney is an event that occurs every two years in Sydney as an avenue to bring art to people both through galleries and exhibition spaces, but also transforming other less traditional locations of the city, most notably Cockatoo Island. (Check out Cai Guo-Qiang’s Inopportune: Stage One, a major highlight of the 17th Biennale of Sydney)

Every incarnation of the event is placed in the control of a new artistic director(s) and carries a different theme of the art displayed. This years artistic directors are Catherine de Zegher and Gerald McMaster, with the work through the notions of ‘all our relations.’

What ‘all our relations’ intends to exhibit are work that explores concepts and strategies of the ways individuals navigating and connecting in the state of flux that is the human experience. A theme presenting the flip-side to previous principles of ‘change’ dominated by separation, negativity and disruption.

The event is set to officially kick-off on Wednesday June 27 with major events at Cockatoo Island, performances and after hours Artists Talks + more.

A full list of artists expected to exhibit work can be found HERE. Otherwise prepare to have your interest peaked with some behind the scenes images they have released from the Biennale’s Facebook.
